This year she represented Belly Dance at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. She was part of the 20:20 confluence of Arts, where 20 Dance styles were presented to celebrate 20 years of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. Enaakshi sizzled the center stage, as she performed the breathtaking Belly Dance moves to a foot-tapping instrumental number. We saw other dancers performing Jazz, Contemporary, Salsa, Hip Hop etc. Her grace and beauty were out of the world. Her grace and style are truly unmatched. The Rich Dance Culture of Rajasthan.

Image
Beautiful singing before the folk dance show begins! I recenly visited Udaipur in Rajasthan, Udaipur is undoubtedly one of the most beatiful lake cities of India. Udaipur's breathtaking views and rich dance culture make it apt for tourists. The folk dance performances happen every evening at Bagore Ki Haveli, a palace on Lake Pichola that dates back to the 18th century. This is one of the best cultural shows I have ever witnessed. I was touched by every performance especially by the performane of a 70 year old artist who danced with eight to ten mud pots on her head, her balancing act was out this world.  Below are some of the beautiful performances of the evening. Lets begin with  CHAARI DANCE OF RAJASTHAN. In Chari dance women light fire in their pots, and then balance these brass pots on their heads and happily dance! The sight is dramatic and leaves you in awe.  https://youtu.be/g1XLcFffe2k GORBANDH DANCE GAVARI - A Dance Drama of Bhils! ...

We can bring a change. Gender Equality. Lets become strong and bring a change.

Image
Gender inequality is a big concern and it exits not only in India but in many countries across the globe. For centuries women have not been treated equally. Its high time things change at the grass-root level. This inequality is having a great impact on men as well, which we never discuss. We are far away from gender equality, and situations in our society prove that. I never thought such things existed in today's day and age, but very recently I have met women who have gone through these situations which I will be sharing with you. I was surprised when I heard all this, especially in a metropolitan city. I come from a small town that might not be that cool, but the minds there seemed cooler. Thanks to my parents I never knew these concepts existed. I actually thought a metropolitan will be way modern, but that is always not the case. All kinds of mindsets exists in a place. Following are some scenarios 1. If you study too much, you will not find an ideal match. 2. A girl...

Judging Interschool dance competition - Experience and Tips for Students

Image
I have been invited as judge to various dance competitions of schools and colleges, so I thought of sharing an experience and as well as some points which students can pay attention to, when they participate in a dance competition. I recently, was invited as the judge for Inter-school dance competition conducted by Nrityanjali for Mumbai Schools. I was touched by the gesture of the team Nrityanjali. The way everything was conducted was heart warming. It makes me realise that human touch is important in everything. If we are able to create warmth and touch someone's heart, that always stays in our memory. Students from different schools participated in the competition. It was a western dance competition for junior and senior students respectively. The efforts of the younger age group touched by heart. Some of them had really taken efforts and worked on the constume, props and small little details related to the performance. I was really happy and touched by the thoug...
